When to Go
The best time is during the southern hemisphere summer from December to March when the weather is milder and days are longer. November and April can also be good with fewer visitors. I visited in late February and the lakes were glowing with perfect reflections though it can get windy almost any time.

How to Get There
You can fly into El Calafate or Punta Arenas and then rent a car to explore the area. For the Argentine side Bariloche is another good entry point. Roads are mostly paved between main spots but some areas require gravel driving. Organized tours are available if you prefer not to drive the long distances yourself.

Near the lakes there are cozy lodges and estancias with amazing views of the water and mountains. In bigger towns like El Calafate or Puerto Natales you will find more hotel options ranging from simple guesthouses to comfortable mid range places.
